The University of Queensland’s Mayne Hall served as a much-loved centre for performances, graduations, community and university life for decades following its opening in 1973. Join us as we celebrate the publication of A Hall for All, a lively history of this iconic building, which remains a hub of connection and community on UQ's St Lucia campus today as the home of UQ Art Museum.

Author Peter Roennfeldt will be joined by UQ's Fryer Librarian Simon Farley to discuss the story of Mayne Hall and share insight into Roennfeldt's extensive research, highlighting the little-known facts and suprising stories of the building's progression from a ‘great hall’ to a major performance auditorium for all of Brisbane, and occasionally as a forum for debate and protest.

Following the discussion, refreshments will be served in the Mayne Hall Foyer, underneath the iconic stained glass windows by artist Nevil Matthews and a contemporary installation by artists Sonja Carmichael and Elisa Jane Carmichael.
