UQ Art Museum, St Lucia Campus, Brisbane
Monday February 9, 2009
Hosted by the Advancement Office
The Advancement Office was pleased to host a special group of private donors at a morning tea held at the UQ Art Museum recently. The Benefactors Morning Tea was the first opportunity this year for the Advancement Office team to thank and recognise people who have included the University in their Will.
After a warm welcome from the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, External Relations (Acting), Professor Ian Zimmer, the future benefactors and family members of past benefactors were treated to a guided tour by curator Michele Helmrich of the exquisite Margaret Olley: Life’s Journey exhibition currently on display at the UQAM.
Over its 100 year history, The University has received over 100 bequests from alumni, private individuals and members of the public. Bequests have been made to support a broad range of scholarships and prizes and ongoing research across all disciplines and in all Faculties and Institutes at The University. A bequest can be a powerful way to make a lasting difference in an area of medical research, to remember a loved one, or to provide for ongoing funding for students in need.
The Benefactors Morning Tea was the first of many events planned for 2009 by the Advancement Office to thank people who donate so generously to The University of Queensland.
To find out more about making a bequest to The University, please contact the Bequest and Planned Giving Manager in the Advancement Office, on 33463904, or bequest@uq.edu.au.

Customs House, Brisbane
Tuesday November 11, 2008
Hosted by the Advancement Office
The 2008 Donor Thank You function was an opportunity for the University to sincerely thank UQ supporters and launch the Chancellor’s Society and the 1910 Society. The official welcome address from the Chancellor, Sir Llewellyn Edwards AC, and the emotive speeches of the two scholarship beneficiaries, Ms Amanda Acutt and Dr Robyn Wallace, were evening highlights. Over 140 guests attended the cocktail reception which was held in the regal surrounds of Customs House.
