Carla Boeckman commenced as Director of the Advancement Office in early 2007.
Carla has worked for a variety of organisations - the National Science Foundation, World Bank, US Mission to the European Union and several start-up companies - all in roles touching on science, technology and society. She also spent more than five years at the Geneva-based World Economic Forum, identifying and monitoring science, technology, education, environment and health issues to ascertain their impact on business strategy and public policy. In this role, Carla initiated a University Presidents meeting to examine how this group of powerful leaders might use their influence to create social value.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Illinois and a Master of Arts in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University. She speaks French fluently and can order a meal in German, Spanish and Portuguese.
