I am a 2005 dentistry graduate and have worked in both private practice and University teaching with a sense of complete confidence. I feel I have been thoroughly prepared for life as a dentist.
Dental graduates from The University of Queensland are amongst the most sought after in Australia, given their experience, confidence and skills.
Contact with patients begins in the first year of study and steadily increases to six hours per day by third year. However, the definite hallmark of the UQ program culminates in final year, when students spend 37 weeks on clinical placement around Queensland, treating their own patients, performing all facets of dentistry and providing a vital service to the community.
Studying dentistry at UQ has opened my eyes to the exciting specialties this field has to offer and put me in touch with some of Australia’s most highly regarded practitioners.
As a result, since graduating, I have been privileged to spend one year intensively training in surgical wisdom tooth removal and hope to ultimately specialise in the challenging and stimulating discipline of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
