The University is proud of its alumni community and seeks to honour their efforts by acknowledging their achievements publicly.  UQ coordinates a number of annual awards to recognise alumni excellence and also supports other national and international awards that highlight the efforts of UQ alumni in the global community. 

The University of Queensland Alumnus of the Year Awards are presented to notable alumni, in both Australia and overseas, who have made outstanding contributions to their community, have stimulated new ideas or innovations, and have demonstrated dedication, creativity or leadership to their field of expertise. The awards are a celebration of alumni achievement and demonstrate what can be achieved with a UQ education.

Previous recipients of the Alumnus of the Year, Young Alumnus of the Year and International Alumnus of the Year awards reflect the diverse quality of the contributions UQ alumni have made to the enrichment of our society.

Winners of the 2009 Alumnus of the Year Awards will be honoured at the 2009 Courting the Greats Lunch on Thursday 26 November 2009 at Customs House in Brisbane.

The awards are presented in three categories.  The Young and International Alumnus of the Year Awards recognise and honour the achievements of outstanding graduates of The University of Queensland who have achieved distinction in their chosen field and an outstanding reputation among their peers. After receiving numerous diverse and high-quality applications, four finalists for the Young Alumnus of the Year Award and three finalists for the International Alumnus of the Year Award were selected.  Photographs of our finalists and their career profiles can be viewed on the web links below:
